Accountant/Financial Controller

Description

We’re seeking an Accountant/Financial Controller to join our team. This position will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise/manage the day-to-day accounting transactions and inputs, including but not limited to GL transaction analysis, internal auditing of AP, AR and inventory costing
  • Project financial management for specific contracts: booking committed costs, revenue recognition, cash flow and timely closeout of projects
  • Process and post weekly time reporting for construction projects, including research of entries and inquiries on overages with appropriate management group
  • Maintain electronic files for all projects with appropriate documents including job cost tool, customer purchase order, vendor invoice(s), customer invoice(s), in accordance with standard procedures
  • Strong project accounting – monitor each contract and ensure accurate mapping of project financials
  • Direct and manage month-end close/year-end close
  • Fixed asset management
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with workers compensation audit requests
  • Work with company’s audit firm to prepare and complete the annual financial audit
  • Oversee semiannual bank collateral audit
  • Annual business insurance and medical insurance reviews and relationship management
  • Sales and use tax report preparation and filing
  • Update and maintaining internal controls
  • Ensure proper training of all personnel working on financial, accounting, audit or fiscal matters

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or advanced training in accounting
  • 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, preferably in a retail environment
  • Thorough knowledge and practical application of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
  • Work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects thru to completion autonomously
  • Experience creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Proficient and confident user of corporate QuickBooks® and related IT systems
